sonic openings under pressure

is a long term rhythm section intensive project that was first initiated in 1979. The focus has throughout been on multidimensional perceptions of time & movement. Collective improvisation engages with pan-African polyrhythmic models coded as stacked, multidirectionally jointed countermelodies. The music is flexibly both “free” and very tightly coordinated. Personnel anticipated for the ensemble’s next performance are

patrick brennan — composition & saxophone
Cooper-Moore — piano
Hilliard Greene — bass viol
Michael T.A. Thompson — soundrhythium
Michael Wimberly — drums
