Midi Practice Grids for Thursday, June 6, 2019

We’ll be accompanying 2 choruses.  One with a beloved Puerto Rican song, Verde Luz, the other a song El Amanecer, by El Taller’s founder Bernardo Palombo.  Verde Luz was sung by its composer Antonio Caban when El Taller opened in 1979. Also on the list are converse arches and rough hue>.

For
EL AMANECER

This is a recording of Bernardo Palombo singing the song. Although my arrangement is different, except for the core matrix episode, it follows the same sequence of events:

Here is a model of the actual
Arrangement.for advance rehearsal:

I’ve developed a core matrix extension of the sound.  It involves a cross layering of a salsa 3-2 clave system with a 6/8 clave system.

The first midi practice grid sounds the

For
VERDE LUZ

This is a recording of Bernardo singing the song. Our arrangement follows what the cuatro, the plucked string instrument, is playing. There will be a cuatro player on the gig.

Here’s an MIDI mockup of the CORE MATRIX sound:
